"Starter" brackets are designed for the 1st tread/step. They are manufactured at a shorter length in order to butt up to the floor for the perfect tread height. Use "starter" brackets for the first tread/step off of a landing as well. For all other treads/steps, use our "Regular" brackets.
Brackets come with a primed finish and can be painted if you would like to.
